Wind Analysis

Project12 wind01.JPG

According to the Ecotec and Project Vasari simulation, approximately 60 percent of outer skin areas have a potential to generate energy. Although when considering adjacent buildings, the rate will be decreased, however there are always strong wind in the canal between Rotterdam and RDM, and this will have a positve effect to increase the rate.

Interactive skin can react to the speed of wind according to the collected data from sensors. In a grosshopper simulation, five activators are used. The number and depth of morphing elements can be adjustable and this will enable maintaining constant air presure in the space between outer and inner skin.

This is a conceptual study to use wave energy on the foundation. In the RDM canal, there are always big ships which pass through. In the onsite observation every ten minutes one or two ships can be seen. Adjacent future transport hub will also be a enormous potential to use wave energy.
