After visiting the site in RDM campus, I think there are several interactions or conversations can be established between  the surrounding buildings and my design, the local people and my design.

Many buildings here are with corrugated roofs which are similar to wave or electrocardiogram. Surprisingly, that's really consistent with my initial idea. To some extent, the design will be the extension of the existing architecture, and then become a revolution process.

Interview: According to the interview with the receptionist in RDM campus, people who studying there are youngster who want to get rid of their past life and have a bright future. They are supposed to become self-reliable, cooperative and contributive.

Through some talks with the local, I see that life here is extremely boring. No big supermarket, no gym, no park...People have to go downtown by ship. Therefore, a place, which can attract  people to come and relax themselves, is necessary. In the design, it would like to provide diverse spaces for the local, and encourage people to have some positive activities such as live concert, jogging.

Question: Could a project act like what the students are trying to do? Self-reliance means that the prototype of the projects can support itself in terms of operation. Collaboration means that the components can be assembled for special purposes. Contribution means that the project can have a good effect on its surroundings.

A place for the local's communication

Outside the innovation dock, there are only some benches and tables. What people can do is to talk and smoke. So the design(a park, stages) is also improving people's relationship, and promoting the communication.

Solution: From our perspective, the project will exist in different ways. We do not tend to give it an exact definition in terms of function. The function of the project will become very flexible, which is up to the need. We concentrate on exploring a prototype that has the potential to fulfill our perspective mentioned above. The prototype can work independently as well as be combined with each other. When they are put together, they become a hybrid construction with diverse spaces. We hope our project become a dynamic element in the site which can also to some extent inspire the students self-reliance, collaboration and contribution.

Question: Could a project act like what the students are trying to do? Self-reliance means that the prototype of the projects can support itself in terms of operation. Collaboration means that the components can be assembled for special purposes. Contribution means that the project can have a good effect on its surroundings.
