Structure
The main structure is composed by triangular spaceframes, which can be manufactured in a industrial way. The space frames are designed with circular steel beams. Below you can see a impression of how it will look. With this principal double curved surfaces are also easily achieved.
Facade cladding & Material
The dynamic shaped building is a most demanding construction with a complex structure. On this imaginative structure, the external panels are of aesthetic value only; the panels provide no protection against driving rain or environmental conditions. The layers beneath the panels must fulfil the function of both weather-tightness and insulation of the building. The cladding consists of tinted and open-jointed acryclic panels with visible fixing points on the cladding elements. Below a detail of the principal.
Indoor climate
The design accomodates multiple divergent functions, from sport facilities to sauna's. These functions are asking some good ventilation within the building. This can lead to more construction height but the technical parts can be stored in the space frames because of the construction height.
Entrance
The building consists of one main entrance which is situated on the north side of the DOK-haven. The main entrance is positioned in the DOK Kantoor. But the entrance at the DOK Kantoor is not the only way to enter. The building has multiple tentacles laying in the water. These tentacles are accesible from the water of the DOK Haven. Visitors can enter these tentacles via the floating transport Islands or via the Veni-Vidi Hotels. The tentacles are serving as quays for embark and disembark of the floating transport and also as pedestrian bridges. Via the pedestrian bridges visitors can penetrate the building even further. From thes bridges people will acces the building where they can enjoy workouts, saunas and spas.
