WHAT? WHY? HOW?

Why?

In researching about the site, it could be easily noticed that natural areas are very limited in the surrounding. We believe that there is the need for the people to cut off from the RDM and have a place which is easily accessible. Furthermore the idea of filtering the water further strengthens the need for such a project. With the introduction of the new additional projects, the demand for clean water will increase drastically.

What? The project’s main function is to create an oasis where the individual or a small group of people can find a place to relax and escape from the hectic RDM site into a calm and tranquil 'natural' environment.

Yet again, one might ask one's self; What is the natural and what is the man made? We have modified the environmental around us so much that this boundary is increasingly being blurred?

This concept's purpose is to make us rethink the division and interaction between these two notions.

The project is designed in such a way to accommodate different group sizes of people, ranging from crowd to individual. These spaces are all open to the public, and the spaces will be chosen naturally according to the number of users. These landscaped areas will not only serve as mere relaxation/entertainment areas. By including specific species of vegetation, grey water from the river is pumped up to the top, and gets filtered as it percolates down. This would create excessive clean water then the project actually needs, hence also supporting variations with clean water.

How can a public space also convey a sense of ownership?

This project focuses on the interaction between Humans, Virtual reality (through gaming) and Nature (through gardening)
