Interlocking Module System
Material
Expanded polystyrene (EPS) was chosen as the main material. Apart from having a very high strength to weight ratio and very stiff, EPS is 100% recyclable. An EPS grade of 250 was chosen, meaning that is has the compression strength of 250KPa = 250KN/msq. The characteristics of EPS together with the tension strength of steel creates an very structural composite material which doesn't need and form-work. The EPS also works as insulation for the soil and water not to freeze.
