Summary
According to the project brief, our projects are supposed to locate on the sea. There is no doubt that energy and fresh water will become serious problems in our designs. Building some new infrastructures for the projects will be time-consuming and expensive. So, how about the buildings on the sea becoming self –reliable?
The project 17 aims to provide the buildings with fresh water and power. The whole system is divided into three parts. Since the wind in Holland is always strong, the part above the water is mainly used for power generation. And the part on the sea is a platform which keeping the whole building floating on the sea. Besides, this part is also reserved for special purposes. Finally, the part under water is not only used for desalination, which can offer the buildings fresh water, but also used for keeping the building in balance.
Following the concept, choosing a suitable prototype is a hard work. To make the project feasible and economical, the prototype should have good potential in customization. Besides, it is of great importance that the building has the potential to grow because the environment and surroundings are always changing.
So far, I am still struggling with the prototypes.
