Summary
In the harbor of Rotterdam a lot of food is transported into Holland and Europe. The transport of goods cost a lot of money and energy, so growing food nearby the customers is a good thing. This Food Centre will supply the people in the neighborhood of the RDM with fresh fish, meat, vegetables and herbs. With all these new activities in the harbor, people will need a good place to eat as well. So in the top of the tower a restaurant is situated with a nice panorama view of the harbor. The customers walk between the basins of fish, pig fields and green gardens all the way up to the restaurant. The building will be completely self-sustaining. Photovoltaic panels will supply electricity, and the water of the Nieuwe Maas will be purified so it can be used to water the plants.
