The RDM-site will be covered with 25 extraordinary projects. New shops, exhibitions and restaurants are settled on the water. The topedge architecture will attract tourist from all over the world. So the RDM-site will add a new image to the harbour city Rotterdam. Tourists will come to see this place and probably need a hotelroom in holland. The Veni-Vidi Hotel (He came-He saw Hotel 'translated from Latin' ) tries to capture the buildings from out of the peoples bedroom.
Water Power
Water has the quality to increase mobility. If the hotelrooms are formed as boats, the rooms can maneuvre through the site. Like candles, with a quality on its own, floating between the different projects.
Other functions
A hotel needs a foyer, service desk, luggage room, little boutique and a swimming pool as well. The foyer, service desk, luggage room and boutique are designed within the VFood restaurant. Creating a mixture of styles within the VFood restaurant. The building can also float to the swimming pool of Variations or DOK Expo.
The building
The building consists out of a base to float, unmovable functions (shower and toilet), the glass window, the rising floor slabs and blinds. The window pattern has a honeylike appearance. The closed diamondshaped parts contain integrated lightning and television, creating a more free floorplan. The Height of the first and the second honeyframe are 2,2 meters, so people can walk trough them. The lights on the outside of the building can be used, for lightning the hotel up. The blinds react to the sun and people. They close like a pine cone, when the sunradiation is to high. Every hotel unit has a different print on the sail. The ground floor and the firstfloor windows, can be opened to form a connection to other projects. The blinds can be used to walk over to another project or even another hotel. Given the possibility to connect to other hotel units, the building can expand it's capacity and integrate new activities, like an exhibition or an office working place.
