Sails

The sails of the Veni-Vidi spheres react to the sunlight. When the solar radiation is high the sails can rotate, to block the sun. I tried to built a maquette of this idea. Every sailpipe needs 2 ropes (only two ropes with pulling force can keep the pipe stable) to control the rotation. The sails are folded, so they can stretch and shrink when needed.

Main structure

The sphere has a floating base, comparable to the bottom of a ship where the bottom narrows to reduce water resistance. The polyester is watertight. The center wall is made out of concrete, the boat gains stability when the heaviest load is in the center of the building. 4 Steel spants are fixed to the base (lowest part) and centerwalls (highest part). Underneath the fixed slabs a steel cross is attached to the steel ring. The steelring prevents the 4 steel spants to rotate. The outer facade gets his stability from the steel spants.
