Summary
Network
The pavilion is a part of a larger network. The network is located in the RDM harbor. The theme of the network is urban farming. Together with the other pavilions it will support this theme and make it to a whole.
Concept
The village Heijplaat is built in 1914 as result of the remote side of the RDM factory. The employees had to travel a far distance and the owner of the factory decides he wants his employees close to the factory. In 1983 the factory had gone bankrupt as result of that the whole community not only lost their jobs but also the reason to exist.
The concept of the pavilion is to focus on the local context. To create a place that gives the people of Heijplaat a center. A center where the can meet but that also provide goods. The pavilion is a part of a larger network with the theme urban farming. One of the forgotten needs of urban farming is the nutrients. Traditional the ground provide the nutrients the plant’s needs. In case of urban farming there is designed not enough ground or in some cases the ground disappeared completely
