Lusthof

Summary

“It is only shallow people who do not judge by appearances. The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible.” - Oscar Wilde, The picture of Dorian Gray

Those things that we can see but cannot fathom are the mysterious, the things that we hide we simply forget. The Lusthof is about a forgotten profession, which has lost its place and its mystery.

Now it is time to rethink, to reinvent the meaning of the sex industry and to give this old profession a place where it can be respected and regain some of its lost mystery and allure.

This means that we aim to provide prostitutes and the sex industry a central and visible place in society and the community. The social acceptance and legalization of their profession should be reflected in the place they are given instead of the one they have to take. Prostitution should no longer be a dead end for anyone, and this can be reflected in the way we organize its environment.

The secondary benefit is the inevitable influx of people attracted to prostitution, and with them the financial means to revive the RDM dock. The allure of a contemporary red light district without its equal anywhere in the world. Thus prostitution will become a seed, a generating motor for the community, placing it in a completely new social context.
