Connecting Dots

the center of connectivity

author(s):Evita Pronk & Nina Verkerk

Summary

Water, sound, light and heat have the similarity that they are transmitted in wave patterns. In physics waves are rhythmic motions that transmit energy but not matter.1 The energy can be can be reflected, absorbed and transformed among others.2

People interacting have similar characteristics. The ideas (energy) are transmitted between individuals (matter) which can be absorbed, transformed and shared. The aim is for architecture to likewise absorb, share and transform information to be able to connect with people and their changing needs.

The Wave Phenomena is the center of interaction. The building has physical interactions with other projects. But it has mainly interactions with the activities taking place in other projects, the excisting buildings on the harbor and in the village Heiplaat. The Wave Phenomena will be the place that glues all the activities together with the exhibition and information center.
